Royal Cattle Company NEWS:

July 11, 2010
Holy buckets, where is the summer going??
The odd weather made breeding a bit of a challenge.  We've slowed down with that some anyway in respect of the tough economy.  We were blessed with several classy colts this spring.  3 Great Inspiration babies out of 3 of our best mares, a really whopper of a Honky Tonk CD filly, a super classy Bearly Missed colt and some pretty shapey babies by Major Buccaneer!
We also started a face book page for Royal Cattle Company, we're trying to load pictures and videos regularly.
Hope you are all having a special summer!

Spring is here for real I think.  Some green grass, some thunderboomers.  Our few foals for the year are due any time.  The "Boyz" know it's spring too and it makes them kick up their heels!

When I was a little girl, if I got dumped, my dad always made me get back up on the horse that dumped me.  This is a little like that, even if it's been too long.  After the fire last year, we both lost a lot of whatever inspiration it takes to get up and get going every day and be happy doing it.  It was a tough year for us personally and in the horse business.  But it's a lot like the saying goes, :  "that which doesn't kill us, makes us stronger...."  there is a lot of truth there.  So, it's time for me to get back to work and update the website.  We have a lot of horses for sale as always.  We are also consigning several to John Schoneberg's spring sale, May 15 at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Clay Center, NE.  It's been a tough winter here and things aren't as fit as they'd usually be, but they're just as nice as usual underneath the hair.  If you're looking around for something in particular, that you don't see, drop us a line.  We're adding a page with some of the colts that are in the area in training, so look for that.  We'd like to thank all the folks that are our friends for the support they've given us through the year.  God bless you all!

Sometimes things happen and we'll never understand why.  That's when it's comforting to trust that "Someone" has a better plan than we do.  On April 4 of this year we had a horrible barn fire.  We lost 4 special horses and a ton of "stuff".  We've had a super dry spring here and the wind that day was about 40mph, there was a kind of spontaneous combustion that happened in some manure in the gelding pen.  Apparently the wind kicked it up and blew it into the hay by the west barn, it was engulfed in no time and even with the quick response of our fire department, it was on the ground in about 20-25 minutes.  It was a saddening, shocking, horrifying and humbling experience.  There has been a huge outpouring of help, love and support from our great friends, neighbors, and the folks that Deb works with in the hospital.  Even as you feel a huge loss, you also feel this huge network of positives from the folks close to you.  Give your pony an extra scratch and another flake of hay tonite, take time to enjoy their company- don't take things for granted because time goes way too fast.  God bless you all.

Gosh, it's hard to believe we're in the last part of January already!  Things are starting to gear up for breeding and foaling.  We want to congratulate our new friends and repeat customer, Jerry Heller on the purchase of a nice Honky Tonk CD filly and one of our Doc Solis daughters.  I think they'll get along great!  We also want to thank Greg and Chris Swanson for taking an interest in our CD colts.  Chris will be starting three of the boys and keeping one for himself, this is a talented young man with a bright future.  If these colts are all like this one that our trainer and partner, Brent Marsh is riding he should enjoy them!  "Patron" is owned by one of Brent's Omaha customers.

We hope that everyone had a blessed holiday with family and friends.  We know that we are among the luckiest people in the world because we're blessed with the best friends anywhere and the majority of them we've met thru the horses.  Sometimes we all need to stop and offer a quick prayer of thanks for all we have; even when the economy is tough our friends are there and that's more than enough.

God Bless you all.

Well, he's home and he's cool!  Great Inspiration arrived last week and has settled in nicely.  We're tickled to have him and want to thank Sally Johnson and Pete and Marilyn Bowling for helping it all come together for him to stay with us for awhile!  We're offering 5 breeding fees to him at the ultra-low price of $500, as of this writing 3 of those are spoken for so if you're interested in one email us or call SOON before they're gone.  After that, he'll go to $750 for the 2009 season.  Give us a call and stop and see him if you want!

Also on the trailer was a cute little guy that hitched a ride here to us!  We want you to meet "The House of  Blues" a super nice colt by A Cowboy At Heart.  We have high hopes for this little guy!

We've recieved word that 2009 is going to be a special breeding season!  A horse named, Great Inspiration is going to be standing here!  Great Inspiration is by the legend, Smart Little Lena, and out of leading broodmare, Moria Sugar (LTE $97K, producer of over $640,000.00)!  I'm not sure how you write a better pedigree.  He's earned over $33,000.00 and qualified for the AQHA World Show twice.  With only 54 registered offspring he's sired $25K in cutting earnings and $1200 NRHA.  In 2009 Great Inspiration will stand to the first 5 mares booked for $500.00 and $750.00 per mare after that (special incentives for producers, performers and multiple mares).

We're still working on cutting our numbers to a more manageable level. Due to this, we made the difficult decision to sell Call Me Playgun. "Mighty Mouse" (an apt nickname for him!) is moving to..... VENEZUALA! We would like to thank and congratulate our new friend, Oswaldo Celis Yanes on his special purchase. We have retained some frozen semen for future use and we'll miss him, but think he'll be a good fit in his new southern home!

We’d like to congratulate our friend and trainer, Brent Marsh, on a cool victory in the Silver Classic, Breeders’ 3 y/o Reining Competition in Lincoln!
